Halloween Fun

Back home after an extended weekend in Bournemouth.
Despite saying I was no longer going to be guesting at any events earlier on the year, after returning from Croatia I had missed the buzz of spinning there so I reached out to Bob Povey who got me on the line up for the Random Acts event for their Halloween Special.  I was also meant to be at ADE as mentioned in previous posts but had to cancel as it fell the time of my dad’s funeral.
I flew into Bournemouth early Friday and enjoyed an unseasonably hot afternoon, having drinks on the seafront with my youngest Brother who drove down from Brum with three of his friends, as well as Julian Bendall joining us later on. A quick disco nap to shake off the 4 or 5 pints we’d had and I was ready for the night.  My good friend also drove down, Rob Farrell and we all enjoyed a great night with a lot of Vocal Booth Family who were out in force. Congrats and good luck to Joseph and Rachel on their upcoming wedding at the end of the month.
I was happy to see Loose Ends performing live on stage, well one of the original trio was there and it was great to have a good old singalong. Truth be told, as great as they were I felt they performed for way too long. I did a two hour set to end the night in the smaller bar of the venue and everyone had a great time. Loads of people made an effort to dress up for Halloween and the night, all in all, was a great success.
Saturday I spent rotting in bed all day then joined Steve Reed, Lee Hughes & Bob Povey for a couple of drinks before having an early night ahead of my 6am flight home.  Home, there’s no place like it !
Even though I had a great time, I really think the flame has gone out for me as far as DJing has concerned. I have the VB Xmas reunion to look forward which I know I’ll love doing but after that I have nothing on the horizon and have no desire to put anything else in the diary. It’s a great feeling. People find it hard to understand when I try to explain where my head is at but with all that’s happened recently I definitely just don’t feel the buzz that I should. It’s for this reason the VB Radio Show won’t be back for some time.
Thanks to everyone that made the effort to come see me Friday and remember, with no DJing now I have all the time in the world to concentrate on my website designs and could do with any help if you see me promoting my services on Facebook, please give it a share.
I’m not sure when I’ll be back on this blog to share anything music related, remember to check out the site I made tracing the Ward Family Tree here.
Respect, see you in Birmingham !

  1. Hi Andy I’ve been a fan of your music since the early nineties, basically since the Marco Polo bar. Lost touch because of work and kids but found you again a couple of years ago on pressure radio and loved listening to your pod casts on a Friday night with a couple of bottles of wine. What am I going to now mate!!! You will definitely missed Andy. Good luck with the web sites but if you could do a mix once a month it would help me keep sane
