BIG weekend in the UK. I’m reeling from a mixture of sleep deprivation, vodka overload and non stop laughter.
Here’s a run down on what’s bussin’ right now in Ward World (as you can see I’m still not quite right – I’m so glad I don’t take drugs… I honestly don’t think I could cope with the comedowns !)
As I type this, I am listening to my Warehouse Classics mix I did last year Read on
Something guaranteed to put a smile on your face, either because you remember the times so well or you just think we all look like total idiots, here are some classic videos I recently had converted from VHS (even though these are on Facebook , they should be viewable by anyone with an account. We tested out a brand new chat room last night yet it still seems to have restrictions in place, meaning some people couldn’t gain access. This had even the geekiest of geeks stumped, so we continue to fight the fight until it’s right.
Lots of energy on the show and some sweet music, Read on
I won’t apologise for the barrage of information, because you have obviously come here for it or subscribed to receive it.. so thanks for taking time to read through the latest set of blogs I have been sending out.
As I prepare for tomorrow’s Vocal Booth, I have more news to share with you.
First up is another classic radio show from Choice FM, this time back to April 1998. This show sees us open up with the classic “Desert Island Discs” jingle put together by the Gillman, I loved it, even if he did get the name of the show wrong ! From the off you hear the awesome sounds of UBP.. a great way to get you in the mood for some quality house music. Again, I left the adverts on the show so you can reminisce and get a vibe for the era we were in back then. Read on
Ahead of this week’s Coventry gig, I was interviewed some time ago (ahead of the Southport Weekender announcement which I refer to).
Makes interesting reading I think

Anyone that has listened to the Vocal Booth over the last year or so will be more than aware of Julian Bendall. When working on my ‘Streets of the Sun’ track we formed “The Heavyweights” as a production outfit, and now we bring our brand new podcast into the world. Read on
Taking a step back in time to the glory days of Choice FM Birmingham.
By now, I am sure you are more than aware of my love for these times and Choice FM, it is a truly special era in my life and instrumental in enabling me to travel further out of Birmingham as a guest DJ.
At Choice FM I met Simon Phillips & Ian Wallman (amongst many others), two lifelong friends that were also instrumental in sharing great music with the 2nd city and went on to big things, Ian as one half of the B15 Project amongst other things, and Simon as one of the UK’s finest R&B DJs. There are several other people that passed through Choice FM (later to become Galaxy) who made it ‘big’, springing to mind are KC a great DJ that went onto Radio 1 and Justin Wilkes, now working in London on radio and the voice of the HMV TV adverts as well as the continuity presenter for ITV2 (now you know where you recognise that voice from).
While I am in reflective mode, let me tell you exactly about those days (I feel a long one coming on). Read on
So it begins… the hype for this year’s Vocal Booth Weekender.
Most people who attended last year will already be more than familiar with this footage, as it is taken from the official DVD we had produced after the event, and is featured alongside Thursday nights pre-party, the fun from both Friday and Saturday night as well as the Sunday Lockdown after party.
Also included on the DVD are ALL of the sets from the weekender. There are a handful left, if you would like one, drop me an email thevocalbooth@hotmail.co.uk
Over the forthcoming weeks I will be sharing more footage from last year’s party as well as teasing you with the wonderful images of the locations for 2010′s event.
