31.07.2009 Indonesia trip
I have just returned from an “in and out” tour of Indonesia, playing at the 1st Anniversary celebrations for Mansion in Bandung.
After a rather late night in Pacha – Ibiza, I set out on my gruelling journey.
In the taxi I was fully aware on what lay ahead, but until you actually complete the journey, you always forget just how hard it is.
2 and half hours flight from Ibiza to London, 4 hour wait in Gatwick, 6 and half hour flight to Dubai, 3 hour wait there, another 6 and half hour flight to Jakarta, 3 hour drive to Bandung… I really have to bite my tongue when people say that DJs have it easy !
One thing that is for certain, is that if you asked me to jump on a plane and do it all again tomorrow, I would, because it’s experiences like this that make it all worth while and I hope this little video, like all of the ones I do, give you a chance to see things you wouldn’t necessarily be able to, or motivate you to go somewhere exotic for yourself.
As I type this I am lay in bed in a hotel in Estonia, preparing for another weekend of fun…

July 2009 sees the collaboration and coming together of two leading house music identities; Reelgroove and The Vocal Booth, launching the exciting new soulful house label, “The Sounds Of The Booth”.
The Vocal Booth, founded and fronted by Andy Ward (Soul Central / Soul Heaven) celebrates its 10th birthday after being launched back in the Ministry Of Sound Bar in 1999. Having developed the sound and style of The Vocal Booth, it has become an iconic radio show devoted to the very best in soulful house music.
The final piece of the jigsaw, and what seemed inevitable some time ago, is “The Sounds of the Booth” record label. After exposing listeners on a weekly basis to fresh new music throughout the radio show, it feels only natural to be a record label showcasing the very best up and coming talent, alongside some of Andy’s own productions tried and tested on the Vocal Booth family.
The Sounds of the Booth comes in conjunction with Reelgroove Records, one of the UK’s most consistent and respected labels.
Andy states “Starting the label alongside Reelgroove makes perfect sense to me, Greg Dorban has the proven network in place to make an independent label work smoothly. This allows me to focus more on the music, concentrating on productions and A&R of the label”
The label launches with a track titled “Unspoken” produced by Andy Ward with the sublime Rainy Payne on vocals. The original idea is brought to life by an interpretation from Park Street and will be backed by an array of mixes to suit all styles covered in The Vocal Booth.
